Moby’s gonna appear FOR FREE at the Library! Like, WHAT?!?!
The DJ and musician will read from his memoir “Porcelain” from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 23 at the Central Library.
From the SPL release:
“Porcelain: A Memoir” is about Moby’s life in New York from 1989 to 1999. The book is a chronicle of a city and a time, as well as an intimate exploration of finding one’s place during the most gloriously anxious period in life—when you’re on your own, betting on yourself, but have no idea how the story ends and so you live with the honest dread that you’re one false step from being thrown out on your face. The memoir also talks about the underground hip-hop and house music scenes of the late 80s, and the birth of club kids and the rave scene.
Moby was named the world’s bestselling alternative musician in 2001 and is the winner of four MTV Music awards. Known for his political and social activism, he has been an outspoken vegan for more than fifteen years. Plus he makes bomb music.
I hope this starts a new trend and we’ll have Cascada and the Vengaboys read from their memoirs.
